Aarusha aims to be the premier source of housing solutions to low and middle income migrants in the cities of India. There are approximately 120 million migrants in Indian cities who are drawn to urban centers, the majority of whom have no access to organized rental accommodation. Aarusha provides safe, affordable and good value housing solutions primarily in the form of temporary housing like hostels/shared accommodation to students and employees.
Established in October 2007 by three professionals with experience in urban and infrastructure sectors, Aarusha currently operates hostels in Hyderabad and Bangalore.

V. Satyanarayana, Co-Founder and CEO
V. Satyanarayana is an urban sector professional with 20 years of experience in structuring bankable housing and urban infrastructure projects in Asia and Africa. Prior to founding Aarusha, Satya worked as Project Finance Advisor at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) based in Nairobi to develop slum upgrading projects in several countries. Earlier, Satya worked for 10 years as a senior infrastructure finance advisor at the Indo-USAID Financial Institutions Reform and Expansion (FIRE) Project, a joint program of Governments of India and United States. At FIRE he worked on the development of a municipal bond market, private sector participation in urban infrastructure, and policy and new financing frameworks for improved water and sanitation at state and central levels. Satya holds a Masters Degree in Housing Planning from School of Planning, CEPT University, Ahmadabad and a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from KITS, Warangal.
Dyan Belliappa, Co-Founder and Director of Operations
Dyan Belliappa has been an architect for close to 20 years, with experience designing and managing the construction processes of a variety of buildings ranging from independent homes to educational/other institutions and housing projects. He has also served as visiting faculty for design at several schools of architecture in India. Dyan was involved in research on the traditional architecture of Coorg which was published as a book, “Silent Sentinels – The Traditional Architecture of Coorg.” Some of his projects have been published in design publications in India and abroad. Dyan has a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from VNIT, Nagpur and a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the School of Planning, CEPT, Ahmedabad. |
