'GloboKasNet’s vision is to turn into reality the economic and social inclusion of any person, anywhere, without regard to distance or population density'
GloboKasNet (GKN) is the largest and fastest-growing, independent, multi-bank payment network in Peru offering transaction, processing, settlement and bill payment services to low income urban and rural clients of banks, microfinance institutions (MFIs) and commercial wholesalers. GKN empowers its agents – typically carefully selected small shop owners or merchants – with training and technology to perform all the functions of a bank teller or ATM, providing greater convenience and accessibility to end clients.
GKN services low income urban and rural Peruvians who have difficulty accessing bank/MFI branches to complete their simple banking transactions due to inconvenient locations, limited operating hours, or long lines. These customers appreciate the flexibility of timing and convenience of location to complete financial transactions at their local community stores that serve as GKN agents. Small shop-owners and merchants who serve as agents also benefit from transaction commissions and increase in visitors to their stores and greater credibility within their communities. Recently, GKN has also started servicing corporate clients.
The Peruvian financial system processes over 57 million transactions per month.
Gino Picasso, Founder and CEO, has over 25 years of experience in global information and communications technology prior to founding GKN, most recently as CEO of Mobile 365 and Iridium Satellite. Previously, he held senior positions at GE and McKinsey. He brings significant experience operating early stage, growth and mature companies internationally.
Juan Jose Marthans, President of GKN Peru, is one of the most respected individuals in the financial industry in Peru. Prior to joining GKN in its early days to lead the company’s Peruvian operations, Juan Jose was the Superintendent of Peru’s financial services industry regulatory body, the Banca, Seguros y AFP from 2002-2007. Juan Jose has also taught and lectured in economics and financial institutions at the University of Lima and other institutions and is actively involved in economic development and financial inclusion initiatives within Peru.
