Sabziwala’s business model hinges on delivering the maximum value to fruit & vegetable (F&V) producers - typically small holding farmers - in a transparent and convenient manner. The company procures directly from farmers and community based organizations and manages the value chain from farm to retail. This allows farmers to focus on production, while leveraging their collective strength to sell their produce. Sabziwala aggregates demand from end consumers by partnering with existing Kirana (mom & pop) retailers and other buyers of F&V.

Community served

Sabziwala procures F&V directly from farmers, first level aggregators and community based organizations such as Farmer Producer Organizations based on aggregated demand from multiple channels in urban areas. Sabziwala’s solution is aimed at addressing the typical issue faced by small-holding farmers in India - lack of pricing leverage and inability to directly access the demand. By working with the value chain, Sabziwala seeks to eliminate inefficiencies in logistics and pass on a higher percentage of the retail price back to farmers

The average monthly income of farmers in India is ~$100 and has grown at an annual rate of less than 4% in real economic terms.


Pravesh Sharma, Founder and CEO, has over 30 years of experience in government, predominantly in the agriculture sector. During his tenure as the Managing Director of the Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), he helped catalyze the formation of several Farmer Producer Organizations across the country (helping to bring farmers together and in an aggregated manner). This created an ecosystem with access to resources for training, capacity building and financing.

Alok Kumar Srivastava, Head of Operations, brings over two decades of experience in the F&V retail and wholesale segments. He has extensive experience in design and development of advanced post-harvest infrastructure and has helped several agri-business groups to build market linkages and in setting up processing and market infrastructure.

Sunil Kumar, GM of Operations, brings over a decade of experience across sourcing and quality control, having worked with Farmer Producer Organizations across India. He has consulted for several agri-businesses on market and infrastructure development projects.
